Dr Melloy understands the expertise and importance of a specialist GP and aims for collegiality, punctual communication and collaboration. She is happy to receive phone calls for urgent referrals, emergency referrals and non-urgent phone advice.

How to refer

Referrals may be sent via:

Please include any relevant imaging and most recent pathology results (if applicable).

Urgent Referrals

Please contact the rooms or Dr Melloy directly if you wish to discuss an urgent referral. This will ensure the patient is seen in the most timely manner.  

Emergency Referrals

Dr Melloy is happy to be contacted for emergency general surgery referrals. This includes;

• Appendicitis /acute abdominal pain

• Diverticulitis

• Pancreatitis

• Gallbladder pathology – cholecystitis and biliary colic

• Bowel obstruction

• Abscess

Any critically unwell patient should be directed to the Cairns Base Hospital.
